Dover Democrats News-January 11, 2021

The Housing Crisis in Strafford County The Dover Dems January Program Tuesday January 18 at 7 pm on Zoom

Betsey Andrews Parker, CAP SC

Join the Dover Dems on January 18 for a program organized by our Social Justice Action Group. The evening’s speaker is Betsey Andrews Parker from the Community Action Partnership of Strafford County, where she has been CEO since 2011. The organization helps over 11,000 clients each year meet their basic needs.

Ms. Andrews Parker will discuss the housing crisis in Strafford County. She is uniquely qualified to talk on this topic since CAP SC provides a wide range of homelessness prevention and housing services. She will also challenge us with suggestions for what we all can be doing to advocate for progress on this important issue.

Betsey is a resident of Dover, and beyond her duties at CAP SC has been heavily involved in our community, including past service on the school board, past president of the Rotary Club, and current service as moderator for Ward 6.

With hundreds of bills already filed, we know that Republicans, led by the so-called 'FreedomCaucus', are gearing up to further privatize public schools, impose additional bans on teaching about racism, adopt even more extreme anti-abortion bills, undo environmental protections, enact heavy burdens on the freedom to vote. There are even bills calling for NH to secede from the Union. On top of all of this, redistricting stills looms heavy as Republicans pursue their efforts to lock electoral advantages for the next decade.
