WHAT WE DO

The DDC connects with, informs, and engages Dover Democrats and others who share our values. We work to elect strong Democrats to public office and put our values and beliefs into action. We collaborate with the Strafford County Democratic Committee, the New Hampshire Democratic Committee, and individual campaigns to elect Democratic candidates at local, state, and national levels. Please join us for any or all of our activities and bring your Democratic (or Democratic leaning) friends and family members.

Monthly Meetings

The Dover Democratic Committee meets monthly to provide educational and informational programs about candidates, issues, community services, and other topics of importance to members and other Dover residents. While the legislature is in session, we have updates on what is happening in Concord at our monthly meetings. These meetings are free and generally open to the public.

Monthly Pub Time

Each month our Program Committee schedules a casual get-together at a local restaurant or pub. This is an opportunity to meet and get to know other people who share your values and interests. The conversations are varied and free-wheeling, but always stimulating. Please drop by and eat, drink, chat, or just listen.

Working Committees

In addition to the Executive Committee, the DDC has three working committees. The Program Committee plans and facilitates monthly educational and informational meetings and routine social events. The Candidate Recruitment and Election Committee helps identify and recruit candidates, participates in campaign preparations, plans the DDC’s candidate support efforts, and coordinates our activities with the various campaigns and other Democratic Committees. The Fundraising Committee takes responsibility for planning and implementing all fundraising initiatives including our annual Franklin and Eleanor Dinner.

Franklin and Eleanor Dinner

This is an annual dinner to bring Democrats together to discuss local issues, hear candidates, and interact with elected officials.  The dinner is a major fundraiser for the Dover Dems so that we can assist local Democratic candidates during their campaigns. The 2016 dinner will be the 9th annual Franklin and Eleanor Dinner and will be held at Ervin Hall at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Dover on March 12th at 6 p.m.

Volunteer for Campaigns

Members of the DDC volunteer for local campaigns to elect Democrats to the NH legislature, county offices, U.S. Congress, and the White House. Dover Dems also participate in recruiting and supporting local candidates.

Action Events

DDC members participate in many visibilities in the community including Tax Fairness Day, Black Lives Matter activities, and campaign sign holding. We also take advantage of opportunities to provide information or testify at public forums and special issue meetings.

Community Service
DDC members serve in the community in a variety of ways including volunteering in the End 68 Hours of Hunger program to help children in the Dover schools, participating in Dover Pride day cleaning up Dover's downtown areas, and joining in on activities for the annual National Day of Service.
